The larger, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder is optional and much better suited to Equinox’s weight. Standard six-step automatic shifts smoothly and in the interest of fuel efficiency, the gearbox is reluctant to move when additional power is required.
Pleasant and easy to follow, Equinox grips competently, and its management is accurate and direct.
The ride is a bit rough, especially with the optional 19-inch wheels (17S or 18s are standard), and the thicker stretches of the road transmit some annoyance to the cabin. 2022 Chevy Equinox can also pull up to 3500 pounds when properly equipped.
