AutoBlog released a list of trucks with the highest resale value after three years, and Chevy Colorado landed in second place. It landed between the Toyota Tundra and the Toyota Tacoma, making third and first place on the list.
According to this list, after three years of use, the Chevy Colorado has an above-average depreciation rate of 28.8%. The Toyota Tacoma has a depreciation rate of 25.2% after three years, which means it is depreciating at its slowest rate.
The list is seen on the Chevy Colorado Z71, an off-road variant. After three years, the average resale price of this truck is $25,795. This price allows drivers to get their value back if they decide that this truck is not for them.
2024 Chevy Colorado Review
The next-generation 2024 Colorado broke the cover in a series of new spy photos this week, giving us a glimpse of what to expect when GM’s compact trucks are replaced in 2023 or 2024.
Thanks to still extensive camouflage, this prototype doesn’t provide much information about the styling of the new Colorado, but in its profile, it looks as though the up and down rear cab lines may be a thing of the past.
We wouldn’t be surprised to see the new Colorado adopt a more angular and square look that’s more akin to its big brother, the half-ton Silverado.
The Silverado is also expected to donate what may be the only new Colorado powertrain. Taking cues from Ford, Chevy is expected to offer a next-generation Colorado with just a turbocharged four-cylinder engine – the company’s new 2.7T for that matter.
The massive, 310-horsepower four-pot could easily overtake the 3.6L V6 currently available in GM twins and a 270-hp Ranger one-up to boot.
This will mark the end of the V6 and diesel options offered in GM’s midsize trucks, and follows the company’s slow and silent effort to eliminate lower-margin models.
We say “truck” because, well, whatever happens to the Chevy will most likely translate to GMC. Canyon will be scheduled to be replaced at the same time, and will likely continue as a re-offer from Chevy.
We can’t say exactly when Chevrolet will start selling next-generation Colorado, but with the prototype in fairly complete condition, we hope it won’t be long. Rumors suggest it could hit the market in 2023 as a 2024 model.

New hints about the next-generation Chevrolet Colorado suggest that the truck will have fewer options when it debuts in 2023 or the Chevy Colorado 2024.
According to Autoblog, the next-generation Chevy Colorado is in sight. It’s not expected to debut until 2023 or 2024. This feels like a pretty early start for General Motors’ new compact truck.
The new Colorado will be different from the trucks we know. Despite being heavily covered in camouflage, you can see that it loses its angular design with the sloping roof. Instead, it has a more pronounced boxy shape.
This allows us to speculate that Colorado will look more like a miniature Chevy Silverado, adopting a new look for 2022. It could have a matching grille design, headlights, and taillights as well.
While the 2023 Colorado gets a new look, it misses out on powertrain options. Autoblog notes that if Colorado follows in Ford’s footsteps, it will only be offered with a single powertrain.
That can only be offered with the new 2.7T turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 310 hp and 348 lb-ft of torque in the Silverado 1500.
This could mean that the engine will deliver more power than the smaller Colorado, which is attractive. But it also means that the current 3.6-liter V6, 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel, and entry-level 2.5-liter four-cylinder will not return.
If this information is accurate, then Chevy Colorado could go up in price. The less powerful option will not be available, and we know that some enthusiasts will miss the rare diesel option.
The new powertrain variant is expected to be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. There is no information on the manual transmission or powertrain of the Chevy Colorado Hybrid yet.
Chevy Colorado Generations
Yes, the 2021 Chevy Colorado is a great option to consider, especially if you want to get some of the features that are currently on offer before they’re gone. Colorado starts at around $25,200.
Plus, the current four-cylinder V6 and diesel engines are pulling a lot more than their rivals.
If properly equipped, the 2021 Colorado can tow up to 7,700 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,578 lbs. It has a maximum cargo capacity of 49.9 cubic feet. It serves as an economical option for work and plays.
Colorado offers a smoother ride than its rivals with fresh acceleration, limited body roll, and confident brakes. But there is less visible wind and road noise in the cabin at higher speeds.
Taller people might find the front seats to combine, but the interior offers a handy layout with easy-to-reach controls. The infotainment system is responsive with attractive graphics. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard.
Storage space in the interior is limited. The rear seats don’t fold flat, and you won’t find many compartments to store your gear. However, there is a convenient tray for your phone and plenty of cupholders.
This could be a great time to grab Colorado if you want an affordable base model or diesel engine before they go. However, we are only speculating about the upcoming 2023 or Colorado 2024 model.
2024 Colorado ZR2
From the web forum ranger6g, a user with the initials Scooter said it looks like the Chevy NA will follow the trend of Turbo 4 Cylinder and 10-speed automatic engines.
Like the rest of the 31XX-2 family of trucks, the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 will be powered by the 2.7L turbo four engines currently found in the larger Silverado and Sierra 1500 trucks.
It will be the only engine available, with a 10-speed automatic transmission being the only transmission available.
In the full-sized Sierra and Silverado, the 2.7L L3B engine makes 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque.
If these same numbers were applied to the next-generation Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, they would beat the Ford Ranger and its 2.3L EcoBoost engine by 40 horsepower, and 38 lb-ft of torque.

The obvious giveaway that we’re looking at is an off-road-focused variant that includes high-ground clearance and Goodyear Wrangler MT tires. Hard to spot but it looks like the prototype uses 33-inch tires versus the 31-inch set on the current Colorado ZR2.
It looks like the tires are also wider at the 285/70 set than the current 265/65 set. In both cases, the wheels measure 17 inches in diameter.
It makes sense that Chevy sticks with the current platform rather than investing in a new one, as future generations of Colorado will likely need to migrate to a battery-electric platform.
Keeping with the current platform, hybrid options can also be offered to the new generation.
Chevy Colorado Hybrid
A prototype for the redesigned Chevrolet Colorado has been spotted for the first time.

2024 Chevy Colorado Spy Shots
Chevrolet is testing a prototype for the redesigned Colorado that we currently expect to hit the market in 2022 as the 2024 model.Our latest spy shots show a prototype for what appears to be the new ZR2 Colorado off-road variant.
The obvious giveaway that we’re looking at is an off-road-focused variant that includes high-ground clearance and Goodyear Wrangler MT tires. Hard to spot but it looks like the prototype uses 33-inch tires versus the 31-inch set on the current Colorado ZR2. It looks like the tires are also wider at the 285/70 set than the current 265/65 set. In both cases, the wheels measure 17 inches in diameter.
According to our photographer, this prototype also runs the shock absorber version of the DSSV Multimatic developed exclusively for the current Colorado ZR2. The setup combines sport-tuned DSSV shocks with positional dampers favored by off-road racers. The result is improved ride and handling on or off the road.
The final hint that we’re looking at testing the new Colorado ZR2 is the “ZR2” script written in red on the inside of the mesh camouflage gear around the taillights. The red ink has been filtered through the net and appears upside down.

General Motors is also known to be testing a prototype for a redesigned version of the GMC Canyon, the Colorado company’s twin. Both will have to contend with a redesigned Ford Ranger when they arrive on the scene sometime next year.
2024 Chevy Colorado Interior
This appears to be the same short-bed crew cab configuration that first appeared earlier this year, but GM has kept further trim information secret with the use of the six-wheel steel. Interestingly, however, the camouflage on the hood leads to the possibility of hood ventilation. Perhaps more importantly, we believe that all the effort in camo windows means a significantly altered interior.
Not much is known on the powertrain front, though the breathable exhaust and grille seem reassuring that Colorado isn’t electric yet. The safest money will be on the 2.5 L EcoTec development, though time will tell whether the six-speed automatic is here to stay, or whether the under eight transmissions have their day.
Chevy Colorado 2024 Powertrain
We expect the Chevrolet Colorado 2024 to offer only one engine option – the GM 2.7L L3B turbocharged four-cylinder engine with TriPower technology. In the Silverado 1500, the engine produces 310 horsepower (231 kW) @ 5600 RPM and 348 pound-feet (471 Nm) @ 1500 rpm of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission will be the only power option.
2024 Chevy Colorado Engine

It will likely be the first quarter of 2022 before we see the model year 2024 rollout, so we have a lot of speculation to do between now and then. One of the big questions we see on the forums is whether the truck will lose the diesel engine option or not. Many expect all current engine options to be lost and replaced with a 2.7 liter 4 cylinder engine from the Silverado. What did you say?
Chevy Colorado 2024 Platforms
The third-generation Chevrolet Colorado will use an updated version of the same GMT 31XX platform used by the second-generation model. The updated architecture will be known as 31XX-2 internally at GM. It will be shared with GMC Canyon 2024 and later.
Before November 2018, GM plans to develop a new platform called the 32XX for third-generation Colorado (and Canyon). That architecture will also support GM’s proposed Jeep Wrangler fighter jet. However, the competitor Wrangler was canceled as part of GM’s ongoing restructuring and cost optimization efforts.
2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2
New generations of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon are on their way and manufacturers are already working on raw versions. The guys at TFL Truck have spy photos of the latest Colorado ZR2 and what might be called the Canyon AT4X, and the site is analyzing new video images.
In terms of the overall footprint, these new trucks appear to be roughly the same size as the current model. There is camouflage on the front, but the muzzle looks very different. For the Chevrolet, there are raised headlights at each corner and a horizontal LED stripe on the sides, at the top the GMC headlights appear slightly lower. Both have cameras in the center of the grid.
Off-road performance is the reason this model exists, and some parts for tackling rough terrain are visible on this truck. This pickup uses Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires which are almost 33 inches in diameter. Both trucks have hidden rear shocks, but TFL Truck considers this part a DSSV unit, just like on the current generation Colorado ZR2.
The main powertrain speculation for the new Colorado and Canyon is that they will use a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that now produces 310 hp (231 kW) and 420 lb-ft (569 Nm) in the updated Silverado that this version of the Canyon AT4X engine can have 325 hp. (242 kW) and 380 lb-ft (515 Nm).
We expect the Colorado ZR2 and Canyon AT4X to be available for the 2024 model year. This timeline shows a start at some point next year.
2024 Chevy Colorado Z71
The Chevrolet Colorado has long been a Chevy midsize pickup truck. It was first introduced for the 2004 model year, and after a brief hiatus between 2012 and 2015, it’s back for the second generation. Since then, Colorado has become one of the most capable midsize on the market. It offers a wide selection of trims, body styles, and powertrains, and the ZR2 is very capable off-road.
That said, Colorado is starting to show its age. Everything in the midsize is a next-gen GM and has only received minor updates since arriving in 2015. The good news is that a new Colorado is definitely on the way.
The first thing we look forward to in 2024 is a much more serious design. There’s nothing wrong with the current truck, but it’s out of sync with the recently updated 2022 Chevy Silverado and all the variations associated with it. Expect a sharper, more aggressive look at the next Colorado style.
Next is a much more modern interior space. Today’s cars are simple, to say the least, and not equipped with the finest materials. It’s true, for some, trucks are workhorses that don’t need a great interior. But for others, the pickup has to do a little of everything: It has to be a traveling office, city cruiser, and off-road fighter, and handle normal truck duties too.
For 2024, we think the Colorado interior will take inspiration from the 2022 Silverado. We expect a bigger display, more customization, and a digital dashboard to flow from the Silverado to Colorado. We also hope to see better interior materials and, hopefully, more space. Wrap all of that together, and Colorado will be the better choice in the midsize truck segment.
As far as powertrains go, we still haven’t heard from Chevy whether the current Colorado base four-cylinder engine or the optional four-cylinder turbodiesel and 3.5-liter V6 gas engine will carry over for 2024. And powertrain details are still a long way off. , we didn’t know what to expect in terms of towing and hauling capabilities.
2024 Chevy Colorado Release Date
The Chevy Colorado 2024 will continue to be assembled at the GM plant in Wentzville, Missouri by GM USA. GM’s Sao Jose Dos Campos plant in Brazil will produce vehicles for the South American market. We expect the 2024 Chevy Colorado to launch in the second half of the 2022 calendar year. The launch is likely in the first half of the 2022 calendar year.
