All-New 2024 Chevy EV Expert Review: Everything You Need to Know

2024 Chevy EV when Chevrolet brought back the Blazer as a two-row mid-size crossover in 2019, fans of the original who had expected an off-road-ready SUV were vocal with their disappointment.

Now comes another surprise wearing the Blazer badge, as Chevy is bringing an SUV with a storied name into the realm of electric auto dom for 2024.

The gas-free version is called the Blazer EV, and if you’re disappointed with the electrification of the Blazer, rest easy. in the SS trim, which offers 557 horsepower and is said to be capable of reaching 60 mph in less than four seconds.

While the SS appears to be tailor-made to take on the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and Tesla Model Y Performance., three other more affordable and less powerful models will also be available.

The Blazer EV uses General Motors’ Ultium battery technology, and the model with the most range is the RS trim, which Chevy says will cover about 320 miles on a single charge.

General Motors’ Ultium electric car platform is impressive. Still, so far the only production models we’ve seen using it are the fancy Cadillac Lyriq, the outrageous GMC Hummer EV, and the expensive (at first) Chevrolet Silverado EV.

But now Chevy has completely unveiled the new Blazer EV, which will be a completely mainstream crossover when it goes on sale next summer. The front three-quarters of the Blazer EV was first shown last month, but now we have a full set of images showing some of the trim levels of the new Blazer.

More than just an existing gas-powered Blazer with an electric powertrain installed, the new Blazer EV goes from the ground up and has a look of its own with sculptural, boomerang-shaped LED headlights, short overhangs and a low, wide stance. Sportier trim levels like the range-topping SS have more air intakes and a larger faux grille up front, but even the base model looks great.

The RS and SS get a full-width headlight bar and an illuminated logo that has a welcome animation and shows the charging status when plugged in. Those protruding fender vents also work.

2024 Chevy EV: All-New Blazer EV Review

The Blazer EV will be the new model in the Blazer family, with its own distinct body and interior—it’s not a gas Blazer equipped with an EV propulsion system.

2024 Chevy EV

It will be offered in four trims, with the mid-range 2LT and RS models first hitting the market in the summer, 2023. The top-spec SS trim will follow soon, going on sale before the end of 2023. The 1LT trim will join the lineup in early 2024.

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV has finally been revealed, months after it was announced at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show. Chevy promises that front, rear, and all-wheel-drive variants are also on the way, there’s even a special version for the police.

Its electric range can reach 320 miles (515 kilometers).

The company has not detailed the specifications for all trim levels. However, the top-of-the-line Blazer EV SS offers 557 horsepower (415 kilowatts) and 648 pound-feet (879 Newton-meters) of torque.

The vehicle boasts a Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode, allowing the sporty EV to reach 60 miles/h (96 km/h) in under four seconds. The charging system supports up to 11.5 kilowatts when plugged into a level 2 AC power outlet or 190 kW on a DC fast charger.

The Blazer EV will be available in 1LT, 2LT, RS, and SS trim levels. The LT variant has a monochromatic exterior appearance and comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels. The RS type has a black grille and trim, in addition to riding on 21-inch wheels. While the SS trim comes with a black roof and 22-inch rims.

The Blazere EV RS and SS also feature specially decorated LED lights, as well as a Chevy badge that lights up when the driver approaches or leaves.

When plugged in, the lights come on sequentially (sequentially) to indicate the vehicle’s charging status. On the inside, the Blazer EV comes with a large 17.7-inch infotainment screen mounted diagonally in the center of the dashboard.

There is also an 11-inch screen for the digital instrument cluster. The GM Super Cruise advanced driving assistance system is an option. There is no start button in the cabin. Instead, the vehicle detects a key, then the driver only needs to step on the brake pedal and the Blazer EV is ready to go.

The RS and SS types come with more features in their cabins. The RS has blue and red contrast stitching, while the SS is available in a mix of Adrenaline Red and Argon Orange trims.

The model also gets a flat-bottomed steering wheel and HVAC vents that look like turbines. They come with heated and ventilated front seats. The Blazer EV comes standard with the Chevy Safety Assist technology suite.

That includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, following distance indicator, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, and smart headlights. Reverse automatic braking and park assist are also available.

In the summer of 2023, the Blazer EV 2LT and RS go on sale at an estimated price of US$47,595 (Rp711.9 million) and US$51,995 (Rp777.8 million), respectively.

The SS variant arrived later that year at a price of US$65,995 (Rp987.2 million), while the 1LT joined the lineup in the first quarter of 2024 with a projected US$44,995 (Rp673.0 million).

Blazer EV Police Pursuit Vehicle will also arrive in Q1 2024. It will use the SS grade as a starting point, and will come with the largest Ultium battery in the lineup. The law enforcement car can choose a rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive layout. They will have a special cabin for the task.

2024 Chevy Blazer EV Specs

Not many details or performance specs are available yet, but Chevy did announce the Blazer EV’s standout figures.

The Blazer EV will be available with front, rear or all-wheel drive depending on the model and battery size, and regardless of the setup, the SUV has independent suspension at all four corners.

The Blazer EV SS will offer 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque and can reach 60 mph in under 4 seconds when in WOW (Wide Open Watts) mode. Chevy says the SS has a “sports car soul.”

Regenerative braking will have legitimate single-pedal driving capability, and it looks like the Blazer has the same regen-activated steering wheel paddles as the Bolt EV. Estimated range falls anywhere from 247 to 320 miles depending on trim level. Here is a chart that will help break it down.

2024 Chevy Blazer EV Battery

Depending on the model, the Blazer EV can accept DC fast charging speeds of up to 190 kW, with the ability to extend its range to 78 miles in 10 minutes once plugged in.

The Blazer EV comes with an 11.5 kW built-in charger, and owners will be able to use GM’s Ultium Charge 360 service and more than 100,000 common chargers across the US.

2024 Chevy Blazer EV Interior

interior is an evolution of the current Blazer, with design and technology cues taken from the Silverado EV.

Each Blazer EV has an 11-inch digital gauge cluster and a 17.7-inch center touchscreen that tilts toward the driver, the latter having a physical volume knob and sitting above a number of analog climate controls.

There’s a trio of Camaro-style circular air vents on the lower dash, and several trim levels get integrated ambient lighting. The SS has orange accents and leather seats with a cool lightning hole pattern.

Whatever trim level you choose, the interior of the Blazer EV features a 17.7-inch diagonal touchscreen, an 11-inch diagonal Driver Information Center in the instrument cluster, and LED lighting throughout. From there, however, the interior changes slightly as you move up the trim hierarchy.

As you can see in the comparison image above, there is hardly any variation between the 1LT and 2LT trims of the Blazer EV, perhaps only the seat material is slightly different. Look down.

When you get to the RS, you’ll notice the big difference, and even more variety when you get the SS interior.
