The 2024 Chevy Traverse is a Mid-Size 3-Row SUV type car that is in high demand in the market where we fully expect the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse to receive a complete redesign and re-engineering, which represents the first model year of the all-new third-generation model.
Quoted from info circulating on Gmauthority, the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse with a mid-cycle enhancement (MCE) better known as an update, refresh, or facelift in 2022. The refresh was delayed due to the COVID pandemic.
But we are eagerly awaiting such a significant refresh that will represent a new generation.
2024 Chevy Traverse Review
The 2024 Traverse exterior is all-new and the 2024 Traverse interior styling is also new. Also supported by an all-new power plant in the form of a turbocharged 2.7L L3B engine.
Not only that, but we also expect a modification of the second-generation model’s trim level structure by eliminating the range-topping High Country trim, while adding a new, rugged Activ trim level. The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse will also offer a higher level of differentiation from one trim to another especially when it comes to the front fascia.
The 2024 Traverse on the powertrain side is expected to offer a 2.7L inline four-cylinder turbo engine mated to GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission. The 2024 Chevy Traverse with front-wheel drive will continue to be standard, while all-wheel drive will be optional.
All 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Changes units will use the long-wheelbase variant of the GM C1 (or “Chi”) platform, the same architecture that underpins the second-generation model with changes to its architecture for the 2024 model.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse also gets some upgrades such as GM’s advanced Global B electrical architecture with the C1-2 designation, with “2” referring to the second-generation architecture.
We expect the next-generation Chevrolet Traverse to hit the market around the 2025 model year. Until then, we expect the current second-generation Chevy Traverse to receive minor changes, updates, and upgrades.

2024 Chevy Traverse Interior Comfort
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse interior gets a new infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and more standard features. Quoting from Motorbiscuit by Allison Barfield says Chevrolet says the new interior will be bolder with more features.
The standard 7.0-inch and available 8.0-inch infotainment screens can be replaced with larger units. For example, the Blazer features an attractive 10.2-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto wireless.
The small 4.2-inch digital gauge cluster, backup camera, and 360-degree camera system can also be upgraded.
Comfort features already include a heated steering wheel, heated seats, ventilated seats, a power liftgate, and a power-folding third row. We can’t wait to see what’s added to the mix.
2024 Chevy Traverse Exterior
On the Traverse 2024 Exterior side, it will be presented with a more rugged look style and the grille could be sportier to match the smaller Chevy Blazer. The Chevrolet Traverse 2024 has a triangular mesh pattern and vertical design with a rectangular air intake underneath.
The Traverse could have a performance edition and a larger off-road model with the rear including vertical taillights like the Blazer and a set of sporty 20-inch five-spoke black alloy wheels.
Next-Gen 2024 Chevy Traverse Activ
As far as we know Gmauthority has provided early impressions of the 2024 Chevy Traverse Activ as a short refresh. The first sighting is of the next-generation full-size crossover equipped with the Activ trim level.
The 2024 Chevy Traverse Activ is a more rugged and adventure-style variant of the lineup where the unit features some key differences compared to the 2024 Traverse prototype. The differences start at the front such as the red recovery hooks (tow hooks), skid plates, and what might be the production lighting setup.
The Chevy Traverse Activ 2024 with a front bumper appears to offer more ground clearance will result in a slightly better approach angle, an important factor in determining the effectiveness of an all-terrain vehicle. In the tire section, the 2024 Traverse Activ uses the usual touring but this could be an early prototype, and hence not yet equipped with more ground-friendly rubber.
At the rear of the 2024 Chevy Traverse Active is equipped with a thin LED light strip that could suggest a new taillight design styled prominently on the lower valance of the rear fascia is a set of dual exhaust tips. The shape seems to be inspired by the C8 Corvette Stingray.
The next-generation Chevy Traverse Activ Engine uses a 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine with 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque combined with GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission. In addition, a new powertrain may also be introduced, the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B.
The 2024 Traverse is expected to use an updated version of the GM C1 platform known as C1-2. Production will take place at GM’s Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan and go into production in December 2023.

2024 Chevy Traverse Hybrid
We can’t confirm it yet but rumors suggest that a plug-in hybrid Traverse might be in the works however, the gas-powered variant is likely to come out first. Also, the engine may get an automatic start and stop technology to save fuel.

The infotainment setup features a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto wireless smartphone integration, satellite radio, Wi-Fi, six USB ports (two per line), Bluetooth for two devices, and six speakers.

Factory Option
All-wheel drive is one of the main options across the Traverse 2023 SUV range. The safety package for the LS trim adds blind-spot monitoring with rear traffic warning and rear parking sensors. This is standard across the rest of the lineup.
The LT features a new steering wheel with audio/roam controls, wireless phone charging, heated mirrors, and eligibility for more options. These include leather seats, heated front seats, a powered liftgate, rearview mirrors, a 360-degree camera system, rear pedestrian warning, navigation, an 8-inch touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, remote start, a 120-volt power outlet, and a dual-panel sunroof. , and a 10-speaker Bose audio system.
The RS has most of those things as standard (not a dual-panel sunroof), plus 20-inch alloy wheels and perforated leather upholstery.
Premier adds a configurable 8-inch driver information display, power-adjustable steering column, memory settings for driver’s seat/side mirrors/power-adjustable steering column, heated/ventilated front seats, heated outboard second-row seats, Safety Warning Seats, and hands-free tailgate operation.
The two-panel sunroof finally made it off the options list with the High Country model, joining a foldable third row. And that’s kind of it for this top trim.
2024 Chevy Traverse Engine
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse seems to be equipped using a standard 3.0-liter V6 engine unit with 310 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque that can be upgraded to provide more power, like the Chevy Colorado engine.
The Traverse can tow up to 5,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,850 lbs. This is average for the class, and the need for more muscle is not there. However, it will be appreciated.
2024 Chevy Traverse Powertrain
We expect the next Chevrolet Traverse to feature the following engine options:
- New 2.0L I-4 turbo engine with automatic engine stop/start function to replace GM 2.0L Turbo LTG (petrol)
- 3.6L V-6 LGX with automatic engine stop/start function as an upgrade from the new 2.0L Turbo (petrol)

- New turbo-diesel engines for select markets (diesel)
- Possibly plug-in hybrid/PHEV electric (petrol/electric)
- Maybe a pure battery-electric variant
- We expect the next Traverse to be offered with the new GM 9-speed automatic transmission. Potentially plug-in hybrid and electric models will have their powertrain.
2024 Chevy Traverse Platforms
Like all second-generation Chevy Traverse units, the 2024 Traverse will continue to use the long-wheelbase variant of the GM C1 (or “Chi”) platform that was most directly shared with the 2018 Buick Enclave and later (second generation).
2024 Chevy Traverse Price
We expect the starting price of the next Chevy Traverse to rise to the $35,000 range to create more space between it and the rumored Blazer.
2024 Chevy Traverse Release Date
So far there is no official information on the official release schedule of the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse but production will apparently be assembled at GM USA at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan and is expected to begin production in late December 2023. Our speculation is that the release schedule will come in early 2024.
