All-New 2022 Chevy Suburban Review, Price and Release Date

Posted on

2022 Chevy Suburban back in the last year, we already knew that Chevy completely reinvents its oldest nameplate with the new 2022 Suburban, and is bigger and better than ever. Share a lot with the redesigned Chevy Tahoe;

However, its additional length and newly adopted independent rear suspension provide more load and space in the third row.

These traits make the 2022 Suburban is the largest SUV to wear a bow tie and a serious competitor to huge alternatives like the Ford Expedition Max. In addition to its familiar V-8 engines, the Chevy now includes a diesel option with torque loads.

Of course, it also offers a lot of mandatory equipment, such as contemporary driver assistance and countless infotainment features. The Chevy Suburban is ready for sale in the mid-2020s.

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban introduces a new generation that features significant improvements. The most notable update is the first rear suspension independent of the SUV. This allows for much better interior packaging that frees up space in the loading area and third row.

The Suburban is also longer than before and is equipped with more technology than ever before. This includes equipment for the first time, such as an air suspension and a small Duramax diesel engine.

2022 Suburban Review

The 2022 Chevy Suburban has enough space to comfortably transport all eight members of the Brady Bunch. We didn’t catch the episode where Mike Brady pulled the 8300-pound trailer, but the biggest Chevy three-line ute-Tahoe (reviewed separately) was the second-largest—up to the task. The Suburban’s trio of engines are another highlight, especially the 420-hp V-8 and torque-rich six-cylinder diesel.

Despite what’s under the hood, this large SUV is incredibly agile. We’re not going to spend a fortune on the most luxurious model because it’s not fancy enough, but the midfield is the sweet spot with an impressive combination of popular features and capabilities. Despite some expensive options and the V-8’s mediocre fuel economy, the state-of-the-art 2022 Suburban is one of the best big SUVs around.

2022 Suburban Interior

Compared to its predecessor, the Suburban has more cargo and passenger space. The second and third rows have a few more inches of legroom, and the second row seats add adjustments so they can now slide back and forth.

Suburban’s cargo area also increased by 23 cubic feet (145 total); the floor is flatter and lower, thanks to the Suburban’s independent rear suspension. Most of its popular options like wireless phone charging and heated and ventilated seats were previously available, but the heads-up display is bigger than ever. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster comes standard starting from the LT model.

Transporting the modern family also requires entertainment for them, and the Suburban has nothing short of infotainment and connectivity features. Along with an optional rear-seat entertainment system that includes two 12.6-inch screens mounted behind the front seats, each model has multiple charging ports throughout the cabin and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Similarly, a standard 10-inch touchscreen sits in the center stack and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities.

2022 Suburban Z71

The Suburban sees a few changes for 2022, one of which is the extended accessibility of the discretionary 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8 motor, presently presented in RST, Z71, and Premier trims. Everything except the base LS trim currently includes an adjustable 12.3-inch computerized measure group and a reexamined infotainment framework that has been improved with Google highlights like voice colleague, maps, and an application store.

The Suburban likewise adds another standard programmed high-shaft, front and back stopping sensors, path keeping help, and that’s just the beginning. In addition. Its discretionary outside camera framework has been reexamined to incorporate 13 distinct perspectives, including some for the trailer.

GM’s Buckle to Drive highlight is presently standard and forestalls development out of the parking area except if the driver and front traveler (on the off chance that appropriate) are twisted. The Suburban paint range presently incorporates metallic tones like Auburn, Dark Ash, and Evergreen Gray.

Upcoming SUV 2022

Among the driver-assist safety features, the Suburban gets standard lane assist with lane departure warning and front and rear parking assist on all trims for 2022. Other standard features include automatic headlights, rear seat adjustment and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian foot. detection. Blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control are available, but only on top-trim models.

2022 Suburban Rear Entertainment System

A configurable 12.3-inch digital instrument panel is now standard on all but the base trim. In addition, the camera system was upgraded to now include more than a dozen views. The standard tech feature list is strong and includes a 10.2-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi hotspot, Google Assistant, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless compatibility. A six-speaker audio system with satellite radio and HD Radio is standard. A 15-inch heads-up display, navigation, and multiple USB ports are available.

There are three motor choices and that is two a bigger number of than the contending Ford Expedition. A 5.3-liter V8 gas engine and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-chamber are accessible in many trims.

This year, the accessibility of the discretionary 6.2-liter V8 gas motor stretches out to everything except the base trim. A 10-speed programmed transmission is combined with every one of the three motors.

2022 Chevy Suburban Z71

In 2021, the latest generation of the Chevrolet Suburban is rolling out. For 2022, Chevrolet is adding several key features to keep its full-size SUV at the top of the segment. For starters, the optional 6.2-liter V8 engine is now available in all but the base trim.

Additionally, an electronic limited-slip differential was added to the Z71. On all but the base trim, a new 12.3-inch diagonal digital instrument cluster is included. The new feature, the Google Assistant function, is standard across the product line.

2022 Suburban High Country

One of the oldest nameplates on sale today, the 11th generation Chevrolet Suburban is all new for 2021 and continues until 2022 with minor changes. It shares its platform with the Silverado pickup truck but ditches the sturdy rear axle in favor of a completely independent suspension. Chevy made a number of technological improvements for the new model year, adding a standard digital gauge cluster to most trims and incorporating some additional driver assistance technologies.

2022 Suburban RST

This is a vehicle built specifically for those looking to transport a lot of people or equipment when a minivan isn’t an option and the Tahoe isn’t big enough. Chevrolet offers the Suburban with a trio of responsive drives. We weren’t impressed with the standard coil-sprung suspension setup, but the improved combination of magnetic ride control and air suspension delivers the Suburban with peace of mind and keeps passengers comfortable.

The 2022 Suburban is roomy throughout the cabin; even third-row adult passengers will feel comfortable and have more legroom. We found the interior quality lacking compared to competitors like the Ford Expedition, but that’s not a big enough flaw to cover the SUV’s successful mission fulfillment.

  • 6.2-liter V-8 engine available in RST, Z71, and Premier trims
  • Available electronic limited slip differential available for Z71trims
  • Trim LTand above accepts standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Google Assistant Standard front and rear parking assistance
  • Fixed standard track assists with lane departure alerts
  • Buckle to Drive seat belt reminders are standard
  • Up to 13 camera views available

2022 Suburban LT

Chevrolet is adding several technological upgrades to the 2022 Suburban, starting with the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that is now standard on LT trims and up. The base LS model has analog gauges and a small 4.2-inch information display.

The interior of the Suburban features a standard 10.2-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Google integration is available, and passengers can use voice commands via Google Assistant to adjust preferences, including controlling HVAC and infotainment. A nine-speaker audio system is standard in the Suburban while Premier and High Country trims receive a standard 10-speaker Bose setup along with built-in navigation.

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban LT accepts Google standard compatibility. It provides access to Google Assistant voice commands, Google Maps, and Google Play services and apps. It integrates with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, allowing users to navigate the infotainment system by voice control or with buttons on the steering wheel. Google can interact with cell phone calls and text messages, audio volume, AM/FM radio, SiriusXM, Google Maps navigation, and climate control. Over time, Chevrolet says it plans to expand Google compatibility to its vehicles.

NHTSA gives the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban an overall four-star safety rating with four stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side crash test and just three stars in the roll test. It comes equipped with a long list of standard driver assistance features, including forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic high beam, distance following indicator, and standard automatic emergency braking. Front and rear parking assistance and lane guard assistance with lane departure warning are also standard for this year’s model.

2022 Suburban Premier

Our favorite suspension setup on the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban is the combination of Chevy’s magnetic ride control and available air suspension. This combination is standard on the High Country trim, which happens to be the trim we recommend for a full-size three-row SUV. The top-tier Suburban not only has the most luxurious driving configuration, it also gets an impressive set of features including custom grille trim, interior and door sill plates. A 15.0-inch heads-up display is standard, as are the rear view mirrors, rear pedestrian warning, and a 360-degree camera system. Chevrolet has also added a 10-speaker Bose setup along with a range of other equipment that also comes with the Premier trim. Shoppers opting for the Suburban are already big, so they might as well use all of its features.

2022 Suburban Towing Capacity

2022 Suburban has 41.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, 93.8 cubes behind the second row, and 144.7 cubes behind the first row. The Suburban is a significant increase in volume compared to the Tahoe. Its smaller stablemate has 25.5, 72.6 and 122.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first, second, and third rows.

The interior space in the Suburban is better than that of its main rival, the Ford Expedition Max.

Cargo space (behind first/second/third rows):

  • 2022 Suburban: 144.7/93.8/41.5 cubic feet
  • Expedition 2022 Max: 121.5/73.3/34.3 cubic feet Legroom
    (first/second/third rows):
  • 2022 Suburban : 45.5/42/36.7 inches
  • 2022 Expedition Max: 43.9/41.5/31.6 inches

Three 2021 Chevrolet Suburban engine options are shared with the Tahoe.

  • Engine and Transmission: 5.3-liter V-8 – 10-speed automatic transmission
    • Power: 355 hp/383 lb-ft of torque
    • Maximum Towing: 8,300 pounds (RWD); 8,100 pounds (4WD)
  • Engine and Transmission: 6.2-liter V-8 – 10-speed automatic
    • Power: 420 hp/460 lb-ft
    • Maximum Towing: 8,200 pounds (RWD); 7,900 pounds (4WD)
  • Engine and Transmission: 3.0 liter turbodiesel I-6 – 10-speed automatic
    • Power: 277 hp/460 lb-ft

2022 Suburban Dimensions

At the front, a giant grille marks the front of the Suburban with standard LED headlamps and vertical fog lamps pushing in. Its tough rectangular profile with sweeping lines. The Suburban represents the long wheelbase version of the boxy Chevrolet Tahoe. Chevrolet wrapped the Suburban with alloy wheels, ranging from 18 to 22 inches. Most trims offer available power running boards for easy access and egress. At the rear, the Suburban liftgate is offset by LED taillights. Square back design makes it easy to load cargo.

This model has seven or eight seats, or nine with front bench seats available in the base trim. The best arrangement is for seven seats because the middle row captain’s seat is almost as comfortable as the front bucket seat. However, with the extended wheelbase, the third-row space is quite good, even with the bench in front of it. Chevrolet has dressed up the Suburban’s interior with leather, soft-touch materials and chrome-like trim.

2022 Suburban Specs and EPA

The Suburban is most efficient when equipped with a diesel engine available, rated at 21 mpg city and 27 road. The standard 5.3-liter V-8 is expected to be a bit more frugal in the city than the optional 6.2-liter V-8, but both are rated at 20 mpg on the highway. Once we’ve tested one on our 75 mph highway route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen, we were able to evaluate the real-world mpg. Last Update of 2022 Chevy Suburban

Big SUVs are a big deal for General Motors, and the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban are getting even bigger thanks to a comprehensive redesign by 2022.

These full-size SUVs also benefit from a new independent rear suspension (IRS), which is a big problem because it makes the cargo space larger and the third-row seats larger (well, we’ll stop now).

The 5.3-liter, 6.2-liter V-8 engines are updated for this new generation, and there’s a newly available 3.0-liter in-line-six turbodiesel engine, the only one you’ll find in the full-size SUV segment. Hopefully, next year we get a very significant upgrade so that the 2022 Suburban chevy can outperform other competitors.

In the 2022 Chevy Suburban, we get a fundamental difference; the Tahoe and Suburban 2022 are distinguished by exchanging that truck’s live axle and blade springs for an independent rear multi-link suspension configuration with coil springs. This helps lower the vehicle floor, creating more space in both the cargo area and the second and third-row seats.

The main rival of these SUVs, the Ford Expedition, has had an IRS for a while, so it has offered significantly more interior space than today’s Tahoe and suburban.

Chevy also claims that the IRS will improve Tahoe and Suburban 2022 driving and handling, and we had a brief ride on prototype vehicles that suggested there will be an uptick in refinement and agility.

There are also multiple suspension enhancements available, including magnetorheological dampers and four-inch height adjustment air springs.

A pair of V-8s and a six-cylinder diesel complete the Suburban engine line. All of them are connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. A 5.3-liter 355 hp V-8 is the default engine on all high-country models except the top-tier.

It gets a standard 420 hp 6.2-liter V-8, but can also be equipped with the optional 3.0-liter diesel six-cylinder engine.

While the latter only pumps 277 horses, its 460 lb-ft of torque binds that the larger V-8. The 2022 Chevy Suburban can also be equipped with adaptive shock absorbers and an adjustable air suspension. The latter allows the Suburban’s driving height to be lowered or climbed automatically and manually.

This improves passenger accessibility, aerodynamics, and ground clearance. Those looking for a sporty style, such as the darkened exterior finish and 22-inch wheels, should see the RST model. The toughest Z71 fit level has 20-inch wheels wrapped with off-road tires, under-body sliding plates, and a two-speed transfer box that provides the traditional four-wheel drive.

But it needs to be understood until now there has been no official statement from Chevrolet about the engine that will be presented in 2022, but it can be understood that Chevrolet will present several engine variants to be introduced in the 2022 Chevy Suburb as an option.

2022 Chevy Suburban Redesign

The question is redesign Chevy goes all with digital displays inside the new Tahoe and Suburban. A 10.0-inch touchscreen is standard equipment, while optional displays include a digital gauge cluster, a large front-color display, and two 12.6-inch entertainment displays for the second and third rows.

These rear-seat entertainment screens can also send content back and forth to each other, and the front touchscreen can mirror the screen from an Android smartphone.

Does Chevy Make A 3/4 Ton Suburban

Before the introduction of the all-new (and now departing) K2XX-based Suburban in 2015, Chevy always produced a three and a quarter tonne (3/4 – ton) version of the Suburban, known as the Suburban 2500.

2022 Suburban SS

General Motors’ next-generation full-size SUV is finally down, but unfortunately, the current lineup doesn’t include a high-performance variant. Sure, we see this as an opportunity to dream up our own version of the hot-to-trot GM SUV, which previously posted our digital renderings for the Chevrolet Tahoe SS 2021.

Now, we applied the same quick shine to the ‘Burban, and the result is this Chevy Suburban SS 2022.

As with the 2022 Chevy Tahoe SS we published earlier, there are currently no official plans for the Chevy Suburban SS, with some discussion surrounding the vehicle’s prospects, but none has yet been approved. As such, we are rendering this for fun only.

So, the question is this – what does our Chevy Suburban SS 2022 render offer?

For starters, this looks like part of performance utility thanks to the lower posture, with the body bending over-large alloy wheels wrapped in performance rubber. The wheels and tires are both wider than the standard Chevy Suburban 2022 and come with a black finish that complements several black accents throughout.

The grilles are blackened, as are the running boards, the latter doubles up as side skirts for aero purposes. Roof rails and DLO maintenance are also black. An SS badge can be found on the door, and a quad exhaust pipe is mounted at the rear.

The main part is the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 engine, which hits the pavement in a 4WD grip. The suspension gets Magnetic Ride Control and Air Ride Adaptive Suspension for lower height and better handling.

As a reminder, the standard Chevrolet Suburban has been reengineered and redesigned for the 2021 model year, entering the 12th generation for the nameplate.

Customers are offered three engine options, including the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 Duramax turbodiesel.

The new Chevy 2022 Chevrolet Suburban is built on an all-new T1 platform and is manufactured at GM’s Arlington plant in Arlington, Texas. Production started earlier this month.

2022 Chevy Suburban Diesel

A 2022 Suburban Diesel engine is an interesting addition to the line and is the same 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel found in the Silverado. Here, it makes 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque and could achieve a 30 mpg EPA highway fuel-saving rating if you can approach Silverado numbers.

We found this engine to be smooth and quiet in our tests of a Silverado four-wheeled crew cabin and achieved a 26 mpg result in our 75 mph road fuel-economy loop. The Duramax will be optional at all Tahoe and 2022 Chevrolet Suburban finish levels except the off-road Z71.

The base engine remains a 5.3-liter V-8; It produces the same 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque as before, but now has a more sophisticated cylinder deactivation system and an engine stop/start function.

The more powerful 6.2-liter V-8, which comes standard at High Country’s top fit level, gets the same updated cylinder deactivation system and start/stop and makes the same 420 hp and 460 lb-ft as before.

A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard throughout the board, and rear-wheel drive will be standard with optional four-wheel drive. Chevy has not yet released the towing figures for these new 2021 models.

This diesel engine is still a favorite of users equipped with strong power to complement the powerful 2022 Chevy Suburban vehicles that will be present, hopefully, next year, the upgrade will be even better.

2022 Suburban Colors

2022 Chevy Suburban Colors and Tahoe come in nine exterior colors, including three all-new colors:

Suburban 2022 Colors:

  1. Empire Beige Metallic,
  2. Cherry Bomb Tintcoat, and
  3. Darkmoon Blue Metallic.

But in 2022 Chevrolet Suburban Colors will a new color be present, we cannot confirm it yet.

2022 Suburban Interior

Compared to its predecessor, Suburban 2021’s new cargo and passenger space is noticeably larger. Its second and third rows have a couple more inches of legroom, and the second-row seats add adjustments so they can now slide back and forth.

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban cargo area also expands by 23 cubic feet (145 in total); The loading floor is flatter and lower, courtesy of Suburban’s new design, and independent rear suspension.

Most of its popular options, such as wireless phone charging as well as heated and ventilated seats, were previously available, but its front screen and digital dashboard display are larger than before.

The transportation of modern families also requires entertaining them, and the 2021 Suburban has no shortage of infotainment and connectivity features.

Along with an optional rear-seat entertainment system that includes two 12.6-inch displays mounted behind the front seats, each model has abundant charging ports throughout the cab and a Wi-Fi access point.

Similarly, a standard 10-inch touchscreen is installed in the center stack and supports the ability of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In 2022 Chevy suburban in the interior is likely to get a better upgrade than the previous year.

This hope is a good start for Chevrolet to bring a comfortable vehicle for all of us.

A pair of engines equipped with a V-8 and six-cylinder diesel complete the Suburban lineup. All are connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear or all-wheel drive.

The 355-hp 5.3-liter V-8 is the default engine on all but the top-tier High Country model gets the standard 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8, but can also be equipped with an optional 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel.

While the latter only pumps out 277 horses, its 460 pound-feet of torque ties into the larger V-8. The Suburban can also be equipped with adaptive dampers and adjustable air suspension.
