2024 Chevy Malibu: New Chevrolet Malibu Mid-Size Family Car Review

Posted on

2024 Chevy Malibu while rumors have suggested that the Chevrolet Malibu was discontinued over the past few years, the midsize sedan is expected to arrive as a carryover model for 2024.

As a carryover model, the Chevrolet Malibu 2024 is expected to arrive without major changes.

On the outside, the upcoming Malibu will continue to have the same exterior design as the current sedan on sale.

This sedan has a sweeping design with sharp body lines, elongated headlights, and a split grille design.

The Malibu front end has a distinct front end with a slim grille at the top and a wide, large grille at the bottom. The rear of the Malibu is less dramatic with the rectangular taillights and a large rear bumper.

2024 Chevy Malibu

The 2024 Chevrolet Malibu is a midsize sedan that is likely to be on loan as more car buyers migrate to SUVs.

That doesn’t mean sedans are going extinct anytime soon; Malibu rivals include still popular models such as the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Hyundai Sonata.

2024 Chevy Malibu

But given that this generation of Malibu dates from the 2016 model year, and Chevrolet is busy expanding its own crossover/SUV range, the Malibu 2024 is likely to be in its final year of production.

That’s why we expect little if any changes to Malibu as it approaches its expected retirement age.

With this in mind, this Chevy sedan seems pretty cheap when you consider its low entry price. That’s a little misleading, however, as adding the highly sought-after safety gear, much of which comes standard on the competition, costs extra in Malibu.

This includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and blind spot monitoring. They are available, but you have to pay extra cash to get them.

Much of the Malibu lineup is motivated by a 160-horsepower turbocharged inline-4 engine paired to a continuously variable transmission.

We assure you, speeding won’t be a problem with this machine – speed in a simple straight line, to put it mildly. The high-end Premier trim is the only one to get a 250-hp turbo inline-4 which gives the Malibu more oomph in its stride.

With the 2024 Malibu’s roomy cabin and several healthy tech features – including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – the Malibu does have a lot of positive attributes.

The suspension is suitable and comfortable for long trips, and the base 4-cylinder turbo delivers impressive fuel economy.

2024 Chevy Malibu Redesign

Chevy Malibu 2024, We don’t expect to see any major changes to the list of Malibu tech features for the upcoming model year.

The current sedan comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot, USB port, six audio speakers, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Available technology features include an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, Bose audio system, navigation, satellite radio, wireless charging pad, and two other USB ports.

Things under the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu engine are not expected to change for the new year. The current sedan comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 160 horsepower as standard.

There is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 250 hp. The base engine is equipped with a continuously variable automatic transmission, while the larger 2.0-liter engine has a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The Malibu 2024 doesn’t come with many standard safety features. We hope the list stays the same for future models.

The Chevrolet Teen Driver rearview camera and system are standard. Available features include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, rear traffic warning, blind spot monitoring, lane maintenance assistance, lane departure warning, and automatic high beam assist.

2024 Chevy Malibu Interior

The 2024 Chevy Malibu interior the Chevrolet Malibu 2024 will retain many of the same elements as the current model.

The Malibu emphasizes ease of use over design, with simple lines, a straightforward center console, and vertically oriented air vents.

There are plenty of analog buttons on the center console, while the infotainment system is integrated into the dashboard. One of Malibu’s greatest strengths is its wide seats.
