2022 Nissan Kicks The Nissan Kicks was introduced in 2018 as a new subcompact SUV to provide car manufacturers with another option in the emerging class. Nissan is giving the Kicks a refresh for the 2021 model year, making this already competitive subcompact SUV even more important.
With the Kicks recently updated and entering its fifth model year on sale, we expect the Nissan Kicks 2022 to be the built-in model.
As Nissan updates the Kicks for 2021, the subcompact SUV comes with a new exterior style. While the 2022 Nissan Kicks currently has a small footprint, the SUV sports a large grille, sturdy body cladding, and raised fenders. The two-tone exterior paint scheme available gives Kicks a unique upscale design.
We expect the Nissan Kicks 2022 to have the same overall design as the current model.
On the inside, the 2022 Nissan Kicks currently wears a youthful design that has direct control. The dashboard has a tiered design with a touch screen sandwiched between the air vents and HVAC controls.
Both the HVAC and infotainment systems have physical buttons and dials for ease of use, while the D-shaped steering wheel is a sporty touch. As a carryover model, the 2022 Nissan Kicks must have the same interior design.
In terms of technological features, the Kicks 2022 should have the same equipment as the current 2022 Nissan Kicks. Currently, Kicks comes with a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, three USB ports, and a six-speaker audio system as standard. Optional features include an 8-inch touch screen, Wi-Fi hot spot, NissanConnect service, satellite radio and eight audio speakers.
2022 Nissan Kicks are currently only available with one powertrain. The engine in the subcompact SUV is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 122 horsepower. A continuously variable automatic transmission is standard, as is the front wheel drive. This engine is expected to remain unchanged for the Nissan Kicks 2022.
Standard safety features on 2022 Nissan Kicks today include blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, rear traffic warning, automatic emergency braking, rear parking sensors and automatic high beam assistance. Parking camera with surround view, adaptive cruise control, monitoring driver’s attention, and rear door warning are optional.
In IIHS testing, the 2022 Nissan Kicks scored “Good” in all six of the crash tests. NHTSA gave the subcompact SUV a four-star overall safety rating. These safety features and ratings should remain the same for the 2022 model year.

2022 Nissan Kicks Exterior
With a bold exterior and a very roomy cabin, the 2022 Nissan Kicks is a small, stylish SUV with a practical side.
The powertrain puts us at a disadvantage, especially when traveling at highway speeds, but as a city-focused commuter, the 2022 Nissan Kicks is, um, a kick. Standard equipment abounds and includes driver assistance features and popular infotainment technologies such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Nissan also provides ample opportunities for personalization through a bold color palette as well as a wide selection and accessories.
One thing that is less attractive to SUV buyers is all-wheel drive, but the SUV’s urban focus places more emphasis on fuel efficiency than off-road capability.
The smallest NissanCrossover receives a styling update for 2022 Nissan Kicks that includes a larger grille, sleek headlights, and taillights, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and a new 17-inch aluminum wheel design.
Nissan has also expanded the availability of a contrasting black roof option for cars painted in Scarlet Ember Tintcoat, Boulder Gray Pearl, and Electric Blue Metallic.
Inside, the SV and SR models now come with a new 8.0-inch infotainment system, and all 2022 Nissan Kicks trim now features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Wi-Fi hotspot is now available as an option on the top-spec SR trim.
The center console has been redesigned, as have the dashboard air vents, front-seat armrests, and door trim panels, which now feature silver paint accents.
2022 Nissan Kicks Interior
Nissan Kicks 2022 Interior, The interior style is less trendy than the 2022 Nissan Kicks exterior design, but it’s well-crafted, looks mature, and has a user-friendly interior.
The adult-sized rear seat means it can carry people and cargo without the feeling of tightness that rivals like the C-HR might experience. The splash of color throughout the cabin does a great job of breaking the stupidity of the all-black interior.
Despite their small size, 2022 Nissan Kicks impressed us with the results in our test cargo, matching and beating some of the larger competitors.
We managed to fit 19 of our tote cases with the rear seats folded. Storage of small items is very expensive in the cargo area and rear seat, but passengers in the front seat will not be aware of the emergency thanks to the large door pockets and large glove box.
The Nissan infotainment system isn’t one of the most beautiful interfaces on the market today, but it’s intuitive and easy to learn.
We wish some of the icons on the screen were bigger and easier to move while driving, but the simple operation of the system and the shortlist of features make it less difficult than the Honda HR-V system.
The Base Kicks S comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, six-speaker audio system, and Bluetooth connectivity while the mid-range SV and top-spec SR get an 8.0-inch screen, additional USB-C port, and access. to the NissanConnect telematics and concierge system.
SR buyers can order an optional Premium package, which adds a Bose stereo system and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
2022 Nissan Kicks Engine: Transmission, and Performance
Each 2022 Nissan Kicks model is powered by a 122-hp four-cylinder engine that delivers ample but far from thrilling acceleration.
The continuously variable automatic (CVT) transmission takes care of the shifting and driving of the front wheels; all-wheel drive is not offered. If a leisurely 9.7-second jog from zero to 60 mph makes the 2022 Nissan Kicks appear slow, that’s because they are.
However, the test results we recorded are only half the story. Around town, it feels great fun as long as you want to start the engine. The 2022 Nissan Kicks is nimble and more fun to throw than some of the bigger SUVs, but it’s not an exhilarating ride down a twisty road.
The suspension is adjusted more for comfort, and provides a soft ride even over potholes and collapses around our offices in Ann Arbor.
Steering is direct and accurate, but very little feedback comes from the road into the hands of the driver.
2022 Kicks MPG Fuel Economy
Kicks have earned an excellent EPA fuel economy rating; In the 75 mph real-world highway fuel-economy test, it sucked in fuel more like an economy car than an SUV.
The result is 37-mpg tied with the Toyota C-HR. Despite the excellent results in our tests, the tiny 10.8-gallon fuel tank shortened its cruising range.
2022 Nissan Kicks Price and Release Date
Nissan has not provided information on when the 2022 Kicks will go on sale. Based on previous years, we predict arrivals at the end of 2021.
Pricing for the Nissan Kicks 2022 has yet to be announced. With no changes expected, we anticipate prices to stay close to the current model’s range of $ 20,650 to $ 23,090 with a goal.
- S: $ 20,000 (est)
- SV: $ 22,000 (est)
- SR: $ 23,000 (est)
2022 Nissan Kicks are well equipped even at the base S trim level, which includes several standard driver assistance features.
We chose mid-range SV; It adds desirable items like a new 8.0-inch infotainment screen, adaptive cruise control, 17-inch wheels, and center console armrests. All 2022 Nissan Kicks models are front-wheel drive; all-wheel drive is not an option.
